Full disclaimer, my birthday isn’t today; it was a week ago. But once again life got in the way of me posting about it. Oh well, better late than never really! What’s important is that I’m making it happen now.
I turned 27 last week and as I get older, I’ve noticed my birthday starts to feel less like a massive celebration and more like any other day. This year, the reason could have been partly because it was a Monday… and not just any Monday, but a particularly tough Monday.
I have always loved celebrating birthdays – especially my own! I’m always the first person to hop on the celebration train and this year was no different. I rounded up some of the most cherished people in my life and we sang karaoke all night long (sorry, no videos will be posted on this site! 😉
But I have to admit my life has felt a little overshadowed by other less exciting things. I know I’ve written on my blog recently about how the past few months have been challenging. I’ve overcome what feels like a lot, so why do I feel like there’s more coming on the horizon?
Whatever this year brings, I know at least one thing for sure: I can handle it.
Life is all about balance. It ebbs and flows. One month you’re having the time of your life and the next you hit a funk that feels like there’s no end in sight. But guess what? There is and you’ll find it. Anything you’re going through, you will get through. If I’ve learned anything during my twenty-seven years of life, it’s that life has a way of coming full circle. Find something you enjoy, truly enjoy, and put your effort into it. By pursuing a passion, accepting help when you need it, appreciating what you have, and saying no to toxic situations, you open yourself up to a life that allows for so much light, even when things feel dark.
Trust me, I’m in my late twenties now, so I know a thing or two!
There is one more thing I’m sure of… with each passing birthday I’m one year closer to Botox! So here’s to enjoying the youthful skin of my twenties while I still can. And here’s to believing that I can conquer anything life throws at me.
What have you overcome lately? Don’t forget to give yourself credit for getting as far as you have. As a very wise woman once said, “you’re doing amazing, sweetie!!!”
