New year, new me, but definitely the same fashion sense.
With the arrival of 2021 (finally), we’re looking forward to seeing what the world of fashion has in store for us next. As fresh new trends pop up, there are still some tried and true styling tricks from 2020 that we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to.
From beloved faux leather to the transformation of loungewear, here are the trends sticking around in 2021.
Faux Leather
This one isn’t going away any time soon, and why should it?! Give me everything faux leather. Faux leather leggings, trousers, jackets, blazers and boots… the possibilities are endless.
Statement Coats
No matter the temperature outside, I will always love coats. I personally think a coat is one of the most elegant ways to pull a look together. Want to look ten times more sophisticated than you feel? Throw on a coat. My color palette tends to lean more on the neutral side, so it’s a camel statement coat for me.
Shackets
What better way be casual, but still trendy? The “shirt jacket,” now more commonly referred to as the “shacket,” has a certain versatility to it. My shacket pictured here is on the shorter side so I like to pair it with jeans or leggings. Alternatively, a longer dress-length shacket can be paired with knee-length boots. Extra points if it’s plaid!
Elevated Loungewear
Gone are the days of ratty gray sweatpants passing as a “comfortable” outfit. If you’re going for a comfortable look, you’d best be wearing matching loungewear! This neutral cashmere set from Splendid is great for lounging around the house or even going out for a quick grocery run (social distance style!).
Baguette Shoulder Bags
Almost every season, a former 90s/early 00s trend makes its way into our closets yet again. The over-the-shoulder bag has rebranded itself as the beloved baguette bag, complete with faux leather detailing for an elevated look. I’m predicting chain detailing will also stick around this year.
What do you think about these trends? Do you have a favorite trend from last year that you plan to keep wearing this year?
